Atholeene's Story

Atholeene Lee Goodwin, 98, of Cullman, died Thursday, January 25, 2018.
She was a graduate of Auburn University. Mrs. Goodwin taught school for 37 years. She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Alpha Theta Chapter and was a relentless genealogist, who was a member of many genealogical organizations including Daughters of the American Revolution, Dripping Springs Chapter.
Mrs. Goodwin was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd W. Lee and Lula Mae Gentry Lee; husband, Fred Goodwin; daughter, Wanda Jean Freeman; and her infant brother, John Curtis Lee.
She is survived by daughters, Margaret Simnons and Geraldine Ryan (Harris); brother, Harold L. Lee; grandchildren, Elizabeth Simnons and Michael Wade Freeman (Rita Kay); and her great-grandchildren, Sadie Freeman and Chester Wade Freeman.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 12 noon until the celebration of Mrs. Goodwin's life, which will begin at 2 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cullman City Cemetery.
The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the 1st Baptist Church Cullman, building fund or, scholarship fund of your choice.
