Our mother told us a few days ago that she was going home to be with our Lord and Savior, and so she has. All of her seven children feel so certain that when she arrived, the Lord said "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
The Lord's servant, Billie Jane Alldredge, was born January 30, 1931, in Cullman, to Bessie Ginny Bell Waldrip Sanders and Willie George Sanders. She wed Willard Glenn Alldredge on October 10, 1947, and began her life, which blessed her with seven children, Jane (Patrick) Dalton, Susan (Max) Merritt, David (Diana) Alldredge, James (Jan) Alldredge, Terry Alldredge, Michael Alldredge and Tammie (Tim) Dunlap.
Known as "Mawmaw," she was the proud grandmother to 15, great-grandmother to 25, with another on the way, and great-great-grandmother to seven.
She was a 60-year plus member of Northside Baptist Church, taught Sunday school faithfully until she was 85 years old, and had seen her members all go home to Heaven. She was an avid reader, and instilled her love for the written word in each of her children. She gave the love of music to us all, and the talent to few. She crocheted ferociously, and each of us wrap up at first chance of cool weather, in our afghans, handmade with love. She gave to us and all who knew her the Love of God, the wisdom of a strong, Southern mother, and the laughter and humor of a woman who often laughed to stop the tears, as we all grew up.
Our mother passed Monday, June 26, at her residence. Please join us in celebration and honor of her life. Her service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 29, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in the adjoining cemetery, Rev. Jack Collins officiating.
The family wishes to recognize and thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice, whose compassion and care was above expectation. Their care of not only her, but also the family, made this transition so much easier.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m., prior to services, for visitation.
