CMSGT, USAF, Ret. Floyd McDowell
Floyd McDowell, 82, took his final flight into the wild blue yonder on April 23, 2017. He was raised in Cullman and graduated from New Hampshire College in 1967, with a business degree. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and retired in 1983. Floyd served his country for 32 years and was awarded many meritorious honors. He flew on the KC97 and KC135 aircraft with over 6,000 flying hours. After retirement, he worked for the City of Austin, Texas, retiring in 1994.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, June Scott McDowell; and his son, Dwight (Sherry) McDowell.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Scott McDowell,; brothers, Virgil and Herschell McDowell.
Floyd will be buried with military honors at 2 p.m. Friday, April 28, at Cullman City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Floyd's name be made to St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church.
