Floye Duene Meigs, 90, of the Water Valley community, entered into rest Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
He was born July 20, 1927, in Winston County. Floye was a longtime member of Sardis Baptist Church No. 2, where he served as a deacon. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two 2 years. Floye retired from Cullman Electric Cooperative as a groundman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Sardis Baptist Church No. 2 in Addison, where services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Brother William McClellan and Brother Jeff Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church No. 2 Cemetery, Addison.
Floye is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dean Elam Meigs; sons, Rickey Meigs and wife Sheila, Rodger Meigs and wife Penny; he was "Paw Paw Hub" to four grandchildren, Rachel (Jordan) King, Hannah (James) Couch, Abbey Meigs, Lana (Vance) Hines; two great-grandchildren, Presley Couch, Emmy Hines; special friends and devoted caregivers, Glenn Meigs, Daryl and Phyllis Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James William (Bill) and Mary Alice Meigs; four brothers; and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, Floye requested donations be made to your home church.
