Franklin Delano Wood, 85, of Cullman, Ala. passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Franklin was born on January 24, 1934 to Millard and Arminda Wood in Cullman. He proudly served for 32 years in active duty Army and National Guard, retired from AT&T, and spent the last 40 years of his life as a pastor. His selfless acts and love towards others was experienced by everyone he met; he will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his spouse, Melba Lee Aaron Wood of Cullman; children, Franklin D. Wood, Jr. of Panama City Beach, Fla., Rebecca Ann (Richard) Baxter of Cullman and Veronica Lynn Wood of Cullman; grandchildren, Zhon Patrick (Ashley) Wood of Panama City, Jessica Lee Coggins of Cullman, Sarah Baxter of Cullman and Annabella Wood of Panama City; six great-grandchildren; his sisters, Betty Jean Williams of Jasper, Ala., Charlene Stewart of Jasper and Lorraine Burson of Pell City, Ala.
Franklin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Wood, Carlton Wood and Alton Wood; and sisters, Mae Benson and Folmer Lay.
A viewing will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman on Tuesday, July 16 at 6 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wedensday, July 17, 11 a.m., also at Moss Service Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Pisgah Baptist Cemetery in Sipsey, Ala.

He was the sweetest man! Would give his shirt off his back to anyone! He helped me and my parents so much! Especially when my Daddy was passing!! I will always remember him as a man who did what he preached..he lived his life as he preached to us how we should live ours! Rest in peace! Praying for you Melba, Veronica , Becky and all your family!
