Mr. Penn died Monday, March 5. He was born June 19, 1951. Gerald was a 1970 graduate of Cullman High School in Cullman. He worked most of his life self-employed in the trucking industry. He started his career working in the family's farm equipment business and cattle operation. He raised registered Santa Gertrudis cattle back in the early '70s. His passion for cattle and farm life never left him. He most recently lived on his Aunt Peggy's farm taking care of it and the various animals that live there.
Gerald was selfless in how he lived, caring more about others than himself. He loved in ways that most people just talk about. There was always substance to his love and compassion.
Gerald never had biological children of his own, but was blessed to have stepchildren who saw him as a father figure in their lives. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt Lee and Betty Doris Penn.
Survivors include a brother, Rev. Roger L. Penn (Elizabeth) of Brownsville, Tenn.; a nephew,
Michael Justin Penn (Christan) of Memphis, Tenn.; a niece, Katherine Michelle Penn of Brownsville, Tenn.; an aunt, Peggy Rogers of Spanish Fort, Ala.; several cousins; and his girlfriend, Jolaine Wells of Danville.
