Randy Gamble, 62, of Fort Payne, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at his home. Hugh Randall Gamble was born Sept. 8, 1954, to (the late) Hugh A. and Lula Woodard Gamble. After growing up in Hanceville, Randy graduated from Hanceville High School in 1972 and then received a bachelor's in accounting from Jacksonville State University. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with family and friends and he was a proud University of Alabama fan. He was the accountant/controller for W.Y. Shugart and Sons Hosiery for many years and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home, Rev. David Holmes, former pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Hopewell Cemetery in Hanceville.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60611; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, in honor of his grandchildren.
Randy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debra McMullen Gamble; his children, Charles and Jennifer Gamble, Allison G. and Adam Templeton and Peter Braun; sisters, Jackie Thompson and Jerry Talley; and his grandchildren, Josh and Aiden Gamble and Carter and Alex Templeton, who loved their Pop.
