Iris Fay Boles

Iris Fay (McCain) Boles, 84, of Crane Hill, Alabama, passed away into the presence of our Lord on April 6, 2019. Over the years, she lovingly became known, by the grandchildren, as "Ninny." She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched. The heavenly choir has added another beautiful voice as she runs and laughs alongside her mother, Lillie, in the golden fields of heaven. A heartfelt service honoring her life will be held at Mt. Hope Baptist Church, Crane Hill, Ala. on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m. followed by burial.
She was born on October 10,1934 into the family of Lillie Jewel (Sewell) and Oscar Perry McCain. They were a devout Southern Baptist, cotton-farming family who would grace this world with 16 beautiful children. As a young girl, Fay loved her family, worked hard in the fields, at school and rarely missed a Sunday at church. She married Johnie Sherman Boles, moved to southern California and began the journey of raising three wonderful sons and a daughter.
Ninny wore many "hats" in her life and worked hard to provide for her family. She was a homemaker but provided income by sewing and assembling metal parts for tools in our home. She would spend years sewing blue-jeans for Bluebell in Hanceville, Ala. and then as a store manager for Hancock Fabrics in the New Orleans, La. area. Upon retiring, Ninny and Papa moved back to their country home, in Hanceville. They took great pride in their beautiful vegetable gardens of which provided fabulous feasts for anyone who wished to stop by for a meal. They spent about 25 independent years of retirement in Alabama before moving back to the New Orleans area; being cared for primarily by Tim and Debbie Boles.
One of Ninny's passions was sewing and she could do it beautifully. Whether she was making dresses for the girls, pj's for her family or outfitting an entire home with beautiful draperies, no one could do it better. Her favorite passion was her family; she loved her children but knowingly loved her grandchildren even more.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Steven Lee Boles; brothers, Conrad, Everett, Raymond, Hoyatt, Jerrel, Carrel, Dwight and Harold; sisters, Betty, Ilva, Louise Dial, and Lorene McCormick.
She leaves behind her beloved family: Sons, Tim Boles and wife, Debbie; Greg Boles and wife, Connie; daughter, Rhonda Boles Demonbreun; daughter-in-law; Sherry Boles; grandchildren, Corey (Yari) Stroderd, Jared (Sammy) Stroderd, Amber Boles, Jessica Brackeen, Timothy and Micah Demonbreun; great-grandchildren, Stephen and Malloree Warino, Brendan and Avery Stroderd and Collin Vicknair; siblings, Helen McCain Davis, James Ray (Sheran) McCain, Gynett McCain (Ed) Bueche'; and multitudes of extended family and friends.
