Ledell Thornton Walker Whisenhunt, 90, born Sept. 9, 1926, passed away peacefully at her residence on March 10, 2017, with her son, Steve Walker, and caregiver, Willodean Waldrop, by her side.
Ledell was raised in Arley and attended Brickyard Baptist Church in Cullman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Wesley Thornton and Vela Clark Thornton; brothers, O.Z. Thornton, Calvin Thornton, Alan Thornton; sisters, Fayenell Lee, Winnie Lee Manning and Glenda Sue Phillips; husband, Other J. Walker, who was the father of her children; and husband, Arthur "Ott" Whisenhunt.
Mrs. Whisenhunt is survived by sons, Steve (Paula Reid) Walker and Russell Walker; grandchildren, Andrea (Brad) Talley, Jake Walker, Tracy (Shawn) Burgess and Wesley (Tina) Walker; brother, Melvin "Bud" (Reba) Thornton; and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to thank special caregivers, Willodean Waldrop and Linda Suits for taking such good care of Ledell during her last several years. A special "thank you" to her hospice nurse, Jason Bailey, for taking such good care of her during her last days.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Moss Service Funeral Home. The celebration of Ledell's life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Crossroads Cemetery in West Point. Tommy Graves and Randy Phillips will officiate the service.
