Nathan Parris, 94, of Cullman, died Aug. 25, 2017, at his daughter's home surrounded by family. Nathan was an Army veteran who served in Europe during World War II. After the war, he married Wanda Johnson. He spent his life caring and providing for his family. He served his church as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors.
Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Birvie Parris; wife and mother of his children, Wanda Parris; second wife, Lurlene Maner Parris; and sisters, Lorene Woodard, Lilly Bell Woodard, Gladys Parris and Audrey Strickland.
He is survived by his son, Phil (Rhonda) Parris; daughter, Reba (Bud) Thornton; grandchildren, Mallory (Joel) Adams, Matt Thornton; great-grandson, Silas Adams; brother, Bobby (Eula Jean) Parris; sisters, Christine Camp and Vila Tyree; sisters-in-law, Lottie Hoff and Carol Johnson; stepsons, Gary (Cathy) Maner, Donnie (Donna) Maner; stepdaughters, Gwen (Ron)Thompson; Debbie (Tom) Milner; stepgrandchildren, Aimee(John) Flores, Anna (Brad) Hedges, Mary Brantley (Lee) Nalley, Leslie Maner, Brannon (Kristen) Maner, Scott (Danielle) Thompson, Tiffany Vogler, Nicole (Richard) Williams, Monica (Cole) Vayda, Michaela (Kyle) Miller and their children.
Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Moss Service Funeral Home. Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Cullman City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cullman County.
