It is with great sadness that the family of Stephen Kenneth Griffith, 73, announce his passing on July 17, 2017. Mr. Griffith was born to Judge K.J. and Frances Griffith in Cullman, Alabama, on September 25, 1943. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. Mr. Griffith was a well-known trial lawyer for forty-nine years. Mr. Griffith was a third-generation attorney preceded in practice by his Grandfather, Judge A.A. Griffith, and his father, Judge K.J. Griffith. Mr. Griffith was a graduate of Cullman High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law.
He was an active member in the legal community and a member of numerous law related associations. He was a past Alabama State Bar Commissioner and served on the Cullman County 911 Board.
Mr. Griffith took pride in his family and made lasting memories with his loved ones. His passion for the West was the foundation of his enjoyment for farming and cowboy days with his friends. Mr. Griffith was a great gentleman with a love for life, family and friends.
Mr. Griffith is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie Mann Griffith of fifty-one years; two children, Wyles Griffith (Brandy) and Sarah Frances Lovell (Donovon) of Cullman; 7 grandchildren, Owen Lovell, Kacie Griffith, Jackson Griffith, Jacob Griffith, Ansley Tapscott, Tyde Tapscott, and Rowe Tapscott; one brother, Robert Quill Griffith; one sister, Janice Griffith DeJong (Clark); mother-in-law Sarah Mann; along with many nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends. Mr. Griffith will lie in state at St. Johns Evangelical Protestant Church on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM with a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in memory of Stephen K. Griffith to Big Oak Ranch (P.O. Box 507 Springville, AL 35146) or St. Johns Evangelical Protestant Church (512 2nd Avenue Cullman, AL 35055).
