Funeral services for Sylvia Taylor, 88, of Cullman, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in New Hope No. 2 Cemetery, Rev. Etsil Riddle officiating.

Mrs. Taylor was born Sept. 18, 1928, to Robert David and Virginia Estelle Martin Blackwood. She passed away on July 3, at her residence. Sylvia was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert Otis "Joe" Taylor; sisters, Ruth (Perry) White and Gearldean (Leon) Goodwin; brothers, Roy (Virginia) Blackwood and Billy (Betty) Blackwood; and a great-great-granddaughter, Alissa Paradise Michelle Stager.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Gibson; two sons, Jack (Kay) Taylor and Ed (Vicky) Taylor; two sisters, Faynell (Jim) Rosenbalm and Nedra (Kenneth) Smith; brother, Eual (Hilda) Blackwood; five grandchildren, David Firlik, Jennifer Obblish, Kelly Jo Firlik, Joe Taylor and Kristy Gibbs; 11 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
