Wayne's Story

Floyd "Wayne" Williams, age 73, passed away July 6, 2017. He was born on February 9, 1944. Wayne was a good man of few words with a big heart. He was loved by his community & everyone who knew him. He would always lend a helping hand, whether it be to a stranger or a friend. He was the Precious husband of Marilyn Faye Chapman Williams; father of Amanda "Dawn" (Thomas Edward "Eddie") Harris and Vickie Williams Duke; grandfather of Mason Edward & Matthew Kemp Harris and Isaiah Wayne Duke; great grandfather of Kynleigh Brooke; and brother of Mary Jo (Stanley) Mackin. He was preceded in death by his parents, F.J. "Boots" & Zee Williams; brothers: Jerry Lamar, Billy Russell and Phillip Kemp Williams; and a granddaughter, Emery Reese Duke. Wayne was a hard working man, who co-started Hired Hand Mfg. and also retired from Birmingham Industrial Water Board while running his chicken farm. His favorite pass times were being on his tractor or working in his shop. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cold Springs Baptist Church cemetery fund or Cold Springs Volunteer Fire Dept.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m at Cold Springs Cemetery; Tommy Graves officiating. The family will receive friends at Hanceville Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 - 9 p.m.
