Wendell Wayne Elrod

Wendell Wayne Elrod, 76, of Addison, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Elrod was born on October 12, 1941 in Danville, Ala. Wendell attended Speake High School and went on to a career as a truck driver which he retired from after 37 years. He was a member of Addison Church of God for 18 years. Wendell enjoyed to travel and business. When he was young, he earned the nickname of "Two Tone", because he had black hair with a blond streak in it.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison from 6-8 p.m. where services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Rodney Ridgeway and Brother Steve Rodgers will officiate. Burial will follow in Friendship Methodist Church Cemetery, Battleground Community.
Wendell is survived by his wife of 20 years, Margie Elrod; son, Vincent Elrod; step daughters, Pat Thorn, and Blinda Turner. He was "PawPaw" to 7 grandchildren, Brittany Westmoreland, Bianca Whaley, David Turner, Brandi Turner, Anthony Wilkins, Cathina Guzman, and Laytoia Amaro; and "Big PaPaw" to 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Pirkle; son, Darryl Elrod; daughter, Yvonne Elrod; stepson, Tony Wilkins; parents, Marvin John and Ada May Elrod; brothers, Alton Elrod, and Bobby Glenn Elrod; sisters, Juanita Elrod Brannon, and Wanda Elrod Wood.
