Retired Air Force Master Sergeant Bennie C. Spinks, 77, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born Oct. 24, 1939, in Cordova, died Friday, April 28, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Bennie moved to the metro-east in 1976, when he was stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He worked in military personnel, retired from the Air Force in 1980, and continued his work with civil service. He was a graduate of Parks College. Bennie enjoyed camping, fishing and bowling.
Surviving are his dear wife of nearly 50 years, Bobbie, nee Rucker, Spinks of Fairview Heights; son, Brian Spinks of Fairview Heights; granddaughter, Piper Spinks of Swansea, Ill.; brother, Jack Spinks; and sister, Barbara Carden, both of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter T. and Martha, nee Mickel, Spinks; his infant daughter, Brenda; and his siblings, June Spinks, Mabel McBrayer, Andrew Bud Spinks, Walter F. Spinks, Robert Guy Spinks and Charlie Roy Spinks.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Shiloh Eagles Hall, 100 Eagle Dr., Shiloh, IL 62221.
