Funeral services for Brenda M. Williams Edwards, 73, of Hanceville are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at New Prospect Baptist Church, Brother Steve Hallmark officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Edwards passed away Sunday at her residence. She was born May 8, 1943, in Cullman County to Willis Leathel Williams and Lena Christine Asherbranner Williams. She attended school in New Prospect and graduated from Cold Springs High School. She worked at Wrangler (then known as Blue Bell) and later opened her own business, the Discount Store on Highway 31 in Hanceville. She ran the Discount Store as well as various other stores in the Gardendale and Cullman communities for 21 years. Mrs. Edwards is also well known for selling floral arrangements and area rugs at the Cullman Flea Market for many years. She owned the Dodge City Browser for the past nine years.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester Edwards; and her sister, Shelia Moon.
Survivors include her brother, Melvin (Reba) Williams; sister, Linda (Jim) Kaple; nephews, Jamie Kaple, Brian (Monica) Williams and Paul Moon; nieces, Leah (Steve) Barnes, Laura Dunlap and Christa (Patrick) White; and a host of great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
