Carl Dellinger, 97, entered in to his Heavenly home on Oct. 4, 2017, after suffering a stroke on Sept. 12. All the prayers of those who loved him were answered in God's perfect Will, as he took his child home for eternity.
Carl's greatest joy came from serving others and spending time with his family and friends. He served as a corporal in the United States Army during World War II. He never met a stranger and enjoyed having a good time. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Cullman and an ordained deacon. His career was in the insurance business with his last job at Independent Life Insurance Company.
He was the husband of his beloved wife, Stella for 68 years. He was the proud father of two sons, Rodney (Melanie) Dellinger and Craig (Catherine) Dellinger. He was "PawPaw" to five grandchildren, Leslie (Wayne) Mertz, Christie (Payton) Sumner, Matt (Jamie) Dellinger, Bennett Dellinger and Jacob (Alden) Dellinger. He was a great-grandfather to Faith, Noah and Branum Sumner, Jack and Reid Mertz, Parker, Paxton and Payton Dellinger, and Harper and Hendley Dellinger.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moss Service Funeral Home. A celebration of Mr. Dellinger's life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cullman Building Fund in his honor.
