Dr. Lane's Story
Funeral services for Dr. Lane Hartney Friedman, 62, of Cullman, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Friedman was born Nov. 19, 1954, to Dr. Louis and Betty Skewes Friedman. Lane was a devoted and loving husband, father, stepfather and physician. He loved his daughter, Haley, more than life itself. She was his pride and joy. He was very passionate about traveling and history. He loved visiting the desert, old battlefields, and historical places or monuments. He loved spending time with his wife Rachel, watching old Hollywood films, and exploring the world as often as possible. He graduated in 1976 from Southwestern (Rhodes) College, with a Bachelor of Science Degree, and from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1981, with a Doctor of Medicine. He completed his residency at Carraway Methodist Hospital, in Birmingham. He was currently employed by Cullman Internal Medicine, and was also the medical director at Southern Care Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Dr. Jim Speeker, of Hanceville.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Lynn Friedman; one daughter, Haley Lane Friedman, of New York; two stepsons, Conner and Ross Clark; one sister-in-law, Donna Speeker; two nieces, Dr. Virginia Strickland and Dr. Beth (Chandler) Cruit; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday prior to services.
