Mr. Cook was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His life consisted of working, attending church and spending time with his family. Mr. Cook was an ordained deacon for 52 years and an active member of Cullman First Baptist Church for the past 13 years. Mr. Cook's goal in life was to live to be 90 years old and sell a pair of shoes on his birthday. On Oct. 5, 2015, he reached that goal. Later he became district supervisor over the stores in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. When the company closed, he was in charge of closing the stores. He continued working for Shoe City, Shoe World and K-Mart in Jasper. When he moved back to Cullman, he went to work for Hibbett Sports selling shoes. As a result of his declining health, he retired at age 90 in 2015.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Evalene Umphrey Cook; parents; brother,Frank Cook, William M. Cook and John M. Cook Jr.; sisters, Ila Mae Easterwood and Mattie Lou Hardin.
