Frances S. Goodwin of Vestavia Hills, Alabama formerly a long time resident of Florence, Alabama, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017, at 99 years old. She was a loving wife, caring mother, beloved grandmother, and loyal friend. Born on February 28, 1917 in Cullman, Alabama, and was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lula South, her beloved husband Alvin E. Goodwin, her son Rodger E. Goodwin and two brothers and six sisters.
She grew up in a large and loving family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Goodwin Barnett (Joel) of Hoover, Ala. She has four grandchildren,Elizabeth Barnett Wall (Jeff) of Vestavia Hills, Ala. Jennifer Barnett Childs (James), of Mountain Brook Al. and Carrie Barnett Miller, (Mark)of Falmouth, Maine and Joey Goodwin, Florence, Ala. She was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
Frances was a long time employee of Kayes and The Bootery, where her sweet spirit touched many lives.
She was a devoted member of North Wood United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she was an active member of the Fidelis Sunday School class, her circle, the Joy Club and the Goodwill Club. Frances will be remembered for her gift of hospitality, her friendship, her beautiful smile that would light up any room, and her devotion to her Lord and her family. There will be a graveside service in Cullman at the Cullman City Cemetery at 2:30PM. on Monday, February 20, 2017. Reverend Kenny Baskins will conduct the service.
