Monica Geraldine Moody, 87, of Altoona, passed away April 8, 2017.
Mrs. Moody worked at Allgood School in the lunchroom for many years. She retired as manager of Bargain Town after 15 years of service. Her church membership was at Straight Mountain Mennonite Church and she was once active in the Women's Missionary Unit at Clear Springs United Methodist Church. Her loves were to cook for her family, raise flowers and reading. She also loved fishing in her early life.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Steve and Jessie Hurst Blackmon; husband, Sylvester Moody; son, Walter Moody; and brothers, Junior and Hoyt Blackmon.
Survivors include her daughters, Edith Chappell (J.C.) of Remlap and Kathy Eiland (Jim) of Montana; sons, Bob Moody (Jan) of Cullman and Rick Moody (Marlene) of Altoona; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and sister, Essie Blackmon of Oneonta.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Lemley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. at Lemley Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Bob Metzler, Joe Armstrong, Bro. Kevin Moody and Bro. John Metzler officiating, with burial in Blount Memory Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Josiah Daily, Jason Chappell, David Moody, Kevin Moody, Mitch Moorer and Brad Blake.
