Odie Hayes, 97, of Addison, entered into rest on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Hayes was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. His faith and membership was Church of God for 73 years. Odie enjoyed hunting and loved fishing, fishing and more fishing.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Addison Church of God, where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. Viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m., Pastor Rodney Ridgeway and Grandson Steton Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Odie is survived by his loving wife of two years, Wanda Smith Hayes; sons, Stevie (Ladonna) Hayes, Tyler Hayes; daughters, Sandra (Larry) Bishop, Ladonna (Leonard) Stallings; sister, Eula Jean (Bobby) Parris; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was "Paw Paw" to 11 grandchildren, Shane, Tracy, LaShay, Rodney, Marlo, Corey, Cherish, Jesse, Steton, Spencer, and Sheena; and 16 great-grandchildren, Lacey, Eric, Deidra, Katie, Cayden, Kason, Mallory, Alena, Kelsie, Karley, Kurtis, Steton, Cole, Seth, Josie and Jackson; and six great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Hadyn, Briley, Henly, Amos and Ezra.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mauvelene Hayes; son, Phillip Hayes; granddaughter, April Hayes; parents, Jesse and Savanna Hayes; brothers, Osie Hayes, Uyles Hayes; sisters, Marie Sewell, Ruby McCrary, Thelma Jarrett and Sybil Campbell.
