Addison - Donald Gene Dollar, 75, was born to Jack and Virginia Dollar on September 8, 1949.
He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Carolyn Lindley Dollar on September 6, 1968. He lived a beautifully blessed and full life that some might consider as the American Dream. Donald spent his career at Drummond Coal Company as a Master Mechanic. He is remembered as a true company man and a devoted family man. He worked lots of long hours and hard days, but still always made a way to be where he needed to be for his family. Donald was well-known for his big heart, generous love and witty humor. He was a loving Christian man who valued people and was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
Being an outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, but he mostly enjoyed seeing kids get to hunt. Fishing for crappie and watching Braves' baseball were also some things he enjoyed all his life! He had a great appreciation for a good card game with a table full of friends he could laugh with. Donald cherished taking trips and riding many miles with Carolyn to see beautiful places and find wildlife. He was also a cowman and could be found on sale day in his chair at Valley Stockyard.
He is the proud father of Candy and Mackey Watts and Tim and Marta Dollar. He is the World's Best Pop to Case, Lily, and Molly as well as to his great grandchildren, Sawyer and Brylee Gene, and their mom, Michelle.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, Alabama, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Brother Tim Box will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Craig Pigg, Ricky Cutcher, Adam Brown, Adam Woodard, Jeremy Wilkins, Nathan Wiggins, and David Tyree.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Virginia, as well as his sister Penny. He is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Brent (Jo) Dollar; sisters, Cathie (Gary) Luker and Marsha (Craig) Pigg and a large host of nieces and nephews.
