Sandy Springs, Georgia - Elizabeth Eilene "Betty" Telle was born on December 25, 1932, in Bonny Blue, Virginia, and passed away on February 28, 2026, at her home in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Odell "Robert" Springfield; mother, Joy Springfield Lancaster; sisters, Jean Kennedy, Margaret Cleveland and Alice Pierson Filleman; infant brother, James Franklin Springfield; her first husband, Reverend James Duell "Doug" Smith; second husband, Royce R. Telle; son, James D. "Jimmy" Smith; daughter, Barbara A. Dancer; stepson, Whitney Telle (survived by his wife Rita); and grandson, Daniel S. Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Kitchens (Jim); her son, Timothy Smith (Lori); her stepchildren, Anthony Telle; Ronny Telle (Tammy) and Nota Telle; brother, Robert Springfield (Judy); grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Katy Gorden, Jenny Jackson, Bart Smith and Rachel Smith-Leach; several cherished step-grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren, Eli Gorden, Owen Jackson, Emily Jackson and Alicia Smith.

Being a pastor's wife was one of Betty's greatest joys, and she embraced the role as a true calling and blessing. The love and encouragement she shared will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
