Gary Phillip "Bud" Cason, 65, of the Birdsong community of Cullman Ala., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

Phillip was born on May 11, 1957, to Eldon JD Cason and Lessie Louree Speegle. In his school years, he loved playing basketball for Baileyton Junior High School and Fairview High School. After graduation, he worked as a welder for a short period of time and then worked as a truck driver for 13 years. Later in his career, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Walker Brothers Building Supply in Baileyton, Ala. for 40 plus years. He was certified in and a member of AOWA (Alabama Onsite Wastewater Association). Phillip enjoyed watching Alabama football games on Saturdays, and all westerns (but he had a special fondness for John Wayne movies). Phillip enjoyed a good card game, (like Rook and Spades) and especially playing checkers with his granddaughter. He had a love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and growing watermelons.

Phillip leaves behind memories to be cherished by his son, Dustin Cason and his wife Sonya; daughter, Jamie Cason (Johnathan Sandlin); mother, Louree Cason; sisters, Denise Schuman (Jerry), Delores Cason (Danny Taylor), and Lori Webster (Matthew); grandchildren, Hunter Murphree, Carson Cason, and Jada Sandlin; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Cason.

A visitation with the family is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel from 6 - 8 p.m. Services for Mr. Cason will be held on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Baileyton Cemetery.

Pallbearers escorting Mr. Cason to his final resting place are John Fincher, Vince Murphree, Jason Cook, Jon Tucker, David Chambers and Richard Chambers.
