Gilbert W. 'Bush Hog' Thomas Sr. Funeral services for Gilbert W. "Bush Hog" Thomas Sr., 74, of Brooklyn will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Junior Burnham officiating, with interment in Hopewell Cemetery near Arab. Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thomas died Sunday, April 4, at his residence. He was born in Blount County to Arthur B. and Flossie Petrey Thomas. He was a retired truck driver and had served in the military. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Story Thomas; and his parents. Survivors include a son, Gilbert Wayne (Shelia) Thomas Jr., of Brooklyn; a daughter, Patricia (Clinton) Edge of Baileyton; a brother, Stanley Thomas of Harrisburg, Va.; two sisters, Lucy White of Fisk, Mo., and Ethelene Thomas of Cleveland, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Joshua Wayne Thomas of Brooklyn and Patrick Thomas Edge of Baileyton. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Special thanks to Oxford Home Health and Omega Hospice for all your care and kindness during our father's illness.
