Arley, Alabama - Nelda Jane Ashley Benson, 81, of Arley, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at her residence.
She was born October 4, 1943 to Rufus and Nettie Ashley. Jane was a retired school teacher of 30 years at Addison School. She loved being outside and sitting in her swing, gardening and working with her flowers, but most of all she loved playing with all her grandchildren.
A private service will be announced at a later time by the family.
Jane is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jerry Benson; children, Kevin Benson, Kyle Benson (Leigh Anne), Kent Benson (Melody), Kara Holland (Billy); grandchildren, Abby Benson, Allie Benson, Joel Benson, Zach Benson, Hunter Benson, Haleigh Harris (Matthew), Hayden Holland, Kaleb Benson (Amber), Kaity Benson and Dalton Benson; great-grandchildren, Carson, Haislee, Konner, Kopelan, and Ira; sister, Melba (Mike) Schrader.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Nettie Ashley; foster mother, Icie McKinney; brothers, Eugene Ashley, Roy Ashley and Troy Ashley, Floyd Ashley, Loyd Ashley and Willard Ashley; sisters Pauline Ashley and Willodean Ashley.
