Franklin Square, NY - Julia Nan Newman, 83, of Franklin Square, NY, died June 1, 2025, in a Long Island hospital.
She was born September 17, 1941, to Odell and Gladys Newman in Cullman, AL.
Nan was a 1959 graduate of Cullman High School, initially attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL, and later received her Bachelors degree from Florence State College in Florence, AL. She briefly taught at Vinemont High School before moving to New York to work for Pan American Airways. After Pan Am ceased operations she was employed by Delta airlines for the remainder of her working career.
Nan is survived by her three children, Cary Newman, Omar (Suzanne) Newman, and Tracy Curry; her brothers Albert and Richard (Cynthia) Newman; niece, Jennifer Newman; nephew, Bradley Newman; three grandchildren and her dear friend of many years, Joan (Joanie) Kentees.
A private graveside service will be held in Cullman at a later date.
