Laudine Black Shaw, age 89, of Cullman, formerly of Holly Pond, died Dec. 6, 2022, at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughter Terri Shaw, Cullman; grandson, Kyle Shaw, Cullman; great-grandchildren, Pyper Shaw, Holly Pond, Mallorie Shaw, Dora, Kanaan Shaw, Cullman and Harper Shaw, Cullman; daughter-in-law, Becky Corley, Vinemont; brothers, Travis (Suzie) Black, Blountsville, Keith (Sandy) Black, Mood; sister, Bobbie Whatley, Cullman; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

The second of eight children, Laudine was raised in Blount County and graduated from JB Pennington High School. Later on she married Roy Shaw of Holly Pond. After a few years in Birmingham, the couple moved to Holly Pond and worked together on several enterprises including raising chickens, catfish ponds, and a catfish processing plant.

In 1974 they opened Shaw's Seafood Restaurant, a business they owned and operated for more than 25 years. Laudine was a devoted wife and valuable partner, who managed the restaurant while her husband continued to pursue other business ventures and philanthropic activities.

She was a supportive and loving mother to their two children. Her many stories and quick wit brought much laughter to family and friends. For the past 20 years, her health prevented her from driving, restricting her lifestyle. She was an example to all who knew her of how to accept challenges and persevere. Her unwavering determination to live well came from her unshakable faith in God, cultivated in the decades she spent worshipping and in Bible study at First Baptist Church of Holly Pond.

Laudine was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Lorene Black; her husband of 57 years, Roy Shaw; son, Greg Shaw; grandson, Kerry Shaw; sister, Hollis Lloyd; and brothers, Herbert Black, Verbon Black and Roger Black.

The Shaw family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers who cared for Laudine in the past several months of her life: Janey Grimes, Patricia Harris, Wanda Lambert, Patsy Rice, Sandra Tucker and Joyce West.

Pallbearers will be Randall Black, Ricky Black, Wade Black, Doug Lloyd, Joey Lloyd, Chris Shaw, Larry Joe Smith, Jason Whatley and Justin Whatley.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at Holly Pond Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, the Reverend Benjamin Smothers officiating. A viewing will be an hour prior to services. Her interment will follow in Holly Pond Cemetery.
