Falkville, Alabama - Mary V. Byrd Estes, 86, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026. She was born on August 9, 1939.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Dean Estes; her parents, Leonard and Lettie Byrd, her sister, Ilene Julian, and her brother, Alvin Byrd.
Mary is survived by her children, Alison Estes Tomberlin (Mike) and Neil Estes (Dawn); her grandchildren, Lauren Bailey (Clint), Natalee Estes, Aaron Estes, Flannery Tomberlin, and Michaela Tomberlin; her sister, Jean Bagdasarian (David); her brother, Jerold Byrd; and many loving family members.
Mary loved the Lord with all her heart, and her faith was evident in the way she lived each day. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who worked tirelessly to create a loving home for her family. She and Albert Dean took great pride in raising a garden and sharing vegetables with family friends and neighbors. Mary was a customer at the Salon of Beauty for many years, and she loved spending Friday mornings with her friends.
Mary was a faithful member of Daniel's Chapel Baptist Church where she was known as the "Candy Lady". Mary shared kindness, encouragement and sweet treats with generations of children. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, generous heart, and the deep love she had for her family.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and service that will be treasured by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Daniels Chapel Baptist Church with Bro Jeremy Calloway and Bro. Tim Aris officiating. Burial will be in the Etha Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
