Ray Elton Hayon Obituary

Ray Elton Haymon, 90, died at the Hanceville Nursing Home on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024.

He was born Sept. 10, 1934 and lived most of his life in Crane Hill, Alabama. He was a member at Mt. Hope Baptist church and served as a deacon there. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and active in the Republican Party. He was an outgoing person who never met a stranger. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family.

He is survived by three daughters, Ranae (Gene Ramsay) Heaven of Norcross, Georgia, Rhoda (David) Whitlock of Vinemont, Sherry (Michael) Nash of Bessemer; two sons, Elton (Angie) Haymon of Arab, Dale (Tammy) Haymon of Athens; 11 grandchildren, Zachary (Laura) Heaven, Jacob (Sara) Heaven, Sarah (A.J.) Walsh, Rachel Rodriguez, Joshua Nash, Michelle Nash, Ragan (Laura) Haymon, Ryan (Taylor Ann) Haymon, Breanna (Bill) Christie, Ben Haymon, Luke Haymon; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Lott Haymon; parents, Ira and Lola Haymon; two brothers, Bobby Haymon and Roy Haymon; two sisters, Irene Haymon and Betty Hamner; and a grandson, Caleb Haymon.

Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10-11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Crane Hill with services at 11 a.m. He will be buried at Livingston Chapel Church in Crane Hill.
