Roanoke Rapids, NC - Sarah Nell Schwaiger, 88, formerly of Cullman, Alabama, peacefully passed from this life at her home in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, on July 2, 2026. Born on February 23, 1938, in Eva, Alabama, Sarah was the daughter of Clifford and Laura Smith.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now healed and reunited with the loved ones who have gone before her.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul J. Schwaiger; her son, Paul D. Schwaiger; and her grandson, Drew Schwaiger.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her daughters, Paula Taormina (Joe), Lynne Lynn (Ron Kehoe), and Robin Neal; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Clifford H. Smith (Joyce) and Jim Smith.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
