Wilbur Henry Arnold Jr.
Mr. Arnold was one of 10 children born to Wilbur Henry and Winnie Lucille Knauer Arnold in Greencastle, Indiana. He was raised on a farm but joined the Navy during WW II serving on LST 700 from 1943-1946 as their Signalman. He saw action in the battles of Luzon and Leyte Gulf during which a kamikaze airplane hit the ship killing 3 crewman. He worked 31 years as the anodizing supervisor for Cullman Products. He served as the Secretary for the Cullman Moose Lodge. He enjoyed tractor/car shows, watching a variety of sports but especially NASCAR.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Anna Jane Day Arnold, his parents and several of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters Deborah Arnold Johnson and Barbara Arnold Burnum of Cullman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Code 3 Associates in partnership with The Tony Stewart Foundation for rescue animals and/or the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 2019-11-07 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, 255 County Road 1435, Cullman, AL, USA.
A burial will be held from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on 2019-11-08 at Alabama National Cemetary, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL, USA.
